Project Description

Funded via the SHG and to DQR standards, this project saw the redevelopment of an existing property to be used as a supported/assisted living facility. Melin were approached by Newport City Council to find a suitable site for a 6-bed scheme, which would have rooms large enough to accommodate a small living space, given the pandemic conditions at the time of the application.

The property was ideal in its existing layout as a supported living scheme as each bedroom is very large and has its own ensuite facility. The two front ground floor bedrooms also enable wheelchair accessible accommodation within the property to include, a bedroom and accessible bathroom, and the second room used as a lounge with accessible kitchen. The property has level access externally and there will be a designated disabled space to the front of the property for ease of access.

The remainder of the ground floor houses a large communal lounge/diner, kitchen, office, laundry room and WC.

The 1st and 2nd floors have 3 ensuite rooms on the 1st and 2 ensuite rooms on the 2nd and each floor also have a small lounge area with small kitchenette facility, and if the floor needs to isolate, they can. Additionally, there is an ensuite staff bedroom that could also double as a further lounge area if it is not required in the future.
