Project Description

Works consisted of removal and replacement flooring and skirting throughout each bedroom, communal hallway and bathroom, small carpentry works to include but not limited to, new kitchen, door closers, small stud walls, and access panels, associated roof works to change 8Nr Velux windows, full preparation and redecoration throughout the hall including Timonox paint to communal hallways and stairwell. Works were carried out in coordination with two other contractors: mechanical installation and upgrading works by RD Mechanical, and electrical installation and upgrading works by MDT Electrical.

Gordon Hall was a particularly tight access site and location, which required careful planning of welfare and deliveries to site. Moving materials around to working areas also required careful planning to minimise the impact of our operations on University stakeholders who could be affected by our works. We used Just In Time deliveries to minimise the need for storage on site and ensured each day we were able to deliver the materials required for that day. We carefully coordinated delivery time arrivals to site, to prevent any vehicle bottlenecks and have labour ready to unload deliveries as quickly and safely as possible.
