Project Description

Hazel Court is a retirement/extra care housing complex with onsite care staff 24/7 in Sketty, Swansea, and consists of 120 one- and two-bedroom flats, located across three blocks. We will be installing solar PV and battery storage to PAS2035, and funding for the project has come from Welsh ORP.

Works are being delivered in conjunction with OneVision Solar who will be installing the PV panels (of which there will be approximately 1000, including the batteries and Tim O’Brien Ltd (part of LCB Group) who are installing the IES (Sero) and metering system (Switch2).

LCB has held Meet the Contractor events for residents at Hazel Court and have set up a dedicated information desk within the reception area which has an inquiry drop box for people to use if they have any queries they want to raise with our site team, as well as regular drop in sessions. We will include letter drops where necessary and a notice board with relevant information displayed. With the new metering and IES systems we will need to access each property, and carry out handover and demonstrations to each household.

The project has been instigated in response to the need for the client to decarbonise their stock, and the rising costs of energy supply. Each flat had previously paid a nominal amount for their electricity subsidised by the client, however due to increasing costs, Caredig wished to explore greener options, including harvesting energy from PV panels.

Hazel Court is the first of four projects we will be completing for Caredig over the next few years. We will shortly be commencing, Bro Presili in Crymych, Pembrokeshire which will incorporate approximately 400 solar panels.
